Even though it had to be in button only mode since I sprained my ankle last week, Forza Horizon 6 gave me a legitimately fun reason to break out the racing wheel for the weekend. Off-road is finally what we expected FH3 to be like!

Racing wheel is significantly improved in this game over horizon 5, though I still find myself using controller sometimes and will be for online. Though my lap times are similar, it’s so much easier to lose traction and so much harder to restabilize the car on wheel vs controller, I have to rewind quite a bit more often to get similar lap times. And certain vehicles like any rwd rally/offroad or trying to drift on wheel just sucks, that’s partly my lack of skill on wheel and using a G920 though.

Game is so satisfying to play on either though

I’m still using that same Thrustmaster Ferrari wheel my dad got me back in 2015 when I got an Xbox One and got Forza Horizon 2. What an incredible game that was.

I don’t think any horizon has had as big of a jump in quality/new things as fh1-fh2, (fh1 is my favorite of all-time, great vibes and nostalgia), but I think the next biggest jump in quality from one game to another within the horizon franchise is fh5-fh6

I’ve put a good amount of hours in already and genuinely believe I’ll have nostalgia for this horizon in 10 years

I think the issue became going for bigger and bigger maps without thinking about what would go in them. As much as I liked FH3 it did feel kinda empty at times. FH4 was fine with it but it was really noticeable in FH5. Just a big map with not a lot of interesting stuff in it. Also there the fact that the Xbox One version of FH2 used the Motorsport 5 graphics engine which is why the cars still look 𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 even now.

I’ve really enjoyed FH6, my reservation comes from just how easy it is to beat the main game. I’ve already gotten the gold wristband and, although I’m happy wristbands are back, tying them to unlocking events was definitely a mistake. Also the removal of championships and having 90% of events have class restrictions, which annoyed me enough when it was confined to DLC on the past. I don’t mind it for Forzathon challenges. I still like it but it does feel like it’s missing some stuff.

Also while there’s certainly a lot of them, I don’t think the car roster is the absolute best in the series. Still very dry good, but there’s quite a bit of bloat. Quite a few brands have cars that are basically identical but one year apart. I mean, we do we really need the ‘05 and ‘04 Imprezzas? Same with VW golf, and some Honda stuff. Also they had the chance to give us a Prius (or even the Prius GT) and didn’t do it. Still a really fun game though.
