If this Ocarina of Time remake is real, how will they do it while fully capturing the same aura that the original had? The 3ds version did well, but that's because it was just a remaster. This will probably be the most scrutinized Zelda game of all time

I honestly believe they should've gone with a full remake of Twilight princess. I understand they made that game because of how poorly Windwaker was received, but they did show pride in that game for the 10 year period between that and BOTW.

I want them to reimagine the “open world” with doing something like shrines. Maybe they can build onto the trading sequence. Add more npcs. Most importantly, they need to keep the dungeons. If they change the dungeons and turn them into divine beasts I’m not playing the remake

I’ll give a hot take but I think OoT is grossly overrated, or at best it doesn’t hold up. It’s a pioneer in 3D action adventure but it’s aged badly, virtually and mechanically, in a way I feel a game like Mario 64 hasn’t. I’m all for a remake but OoT has been eclipsed by so many games including subsequent Zelda titles including Twilight Princess.

The only “problems” with ocarina of time for modern audiences are controls (which are easy to update) and lack of hand holding out the game like a newer Nintendo game will shove down you throat. I genuinely think DK is the only modern Nintendo game that didn’t make me go crazy trying to complete the tutorial, and I still feel like it could have been trimmed.

As someone that didn’t play Mario 64 as a kid but didn’t play OoT, Mario 64 do not age any better than ocarina of time. The camera actually works in OoT

I feel like we need a new realistic Zelda altogether. I like the cel shaded style, but unless they go full wind walker, a more realistic style will help separate this new era of Zelda games we’re stepping into.

I respect your opinion but idk. The controls, the graphics, the difficulty and simplicity. It’s just too easy and despite being open world it’s very linear. I feel like it also lacks a lot of side content to keep you engaged. For its time OoT was incredible but I feel like I’d rather play any other Zelda these days BUT OoT.

Yeah, that’s fair. OoT and MM are my personal favorites in the series, so for me they don’t look aged that much. I still go back and replay them from time to time, and have the most difficulty replaying twilight princess personally (I got the Wii U version and once again could barely get past Orion village, I just don’t find it engaging). I’m not saying the graphics can be improved in OoT either, I just don’t think it’s bad, even today.

That’s a fair take. Maybe I need to revisit OoT, it’s been years. I feel like my initial opinions of OoT and Wind Waker have completely swapped where now Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and BotW occupy my top spots

I love wind waker, but last time I tried playing in the multiplayer mod and quickly learned it also had a really slow early game (pre king of red lions). I would say wind waker aged the best of all the games before botw.

Definitely agree on that. Really enjoying hearing another Zelda fan’s take on all this

I got wind waker as a present for doing well on an end of year exam in elementary school exam, and still remember walking into GameStop and going over to the retro section to pick it up for I want to say $20. Crazy how much the game sells for now.

I didn’t realize wanting a realistic Zelda was a bad take. I’m fine with whatever we get, but we’ve had more or less the same style since skyward sword. Given the lighting is different in botw and link is associated with blue instead of green. I just think something more realistic for one game after 20 years would be cool.

I wasn't the one downvoting. But I don't want a "realistic" zelda (I assume you mean like resident evil/detroit become human, that sort of realism). It's a fantasy series, and a large part of its charm comes from the art direction.

A "Focus, M" zelda game would tank the franchise. I trust nintendo with whatever direction they take the series

I haven’t played the resident evil series. My idea of realism is twilight princess 😭

Ah. Yeah I agree that I'd like a gritty and dark artstyle, but we definitely have different definitions of realistic

I’m a Nintendo fan. The most realistic looking game I’ve played is pretty much twilight princess. Botw for me is somewhere in the middle.
