U just gotta get deep enough to fully appreciate it. The abilities and boss fights are amazing later on.

Idk, I normally really love both Metroidvanias and Soulslikes so thought I’d love HK and like you just couldn’t get into it at all. After five minutes was bored and didn’t want to continue. Sometimes a game just isn’t for you, and that’s fine.
