I guess but between the original release, the 3DS virtual console one, and ROMs I feel like that game probably has about a hundred players per day if not more.

The only reason I could think for that not to be the case would be because Crystal is typically more popular nowadays compared to Gold or Silver, at least that’s the impression I get from the Pokemon community.
