When I’m in a pointless argument competition and my opponent is a “why would you buy a Switch 2, just buy a Steam Deck!” guy who doesn’t even own either to begin with

You can’t emulate Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives on a Steam Deck. Most people get consoles (especially Nintendo) for the exclusives.

Imagine spending $500 and a monthly subscription to use a feature that’s been in video games longer than my parents were married. The steam deck is better than the switch in quite literally every way

That’s why I bought mine. I see the value in a steam deck but acting like it’s some sort of superior replacement to the switch is ridiculous.

The steam deck can get up to $649 and isn’t able to play the exclusive titles that people are buying a Nintendo console for. To have that plus other games on a high powered console on the go makes the switch 2 worth it. Plus, while consoles requiring you to pay for online services it’s stupid, you do get access to continually updating game collections and it’s only 3.99 a month or 19.99 for a year. Both are worth purchasing depending on what you’re looking for.

The Switch 2 got DLSS, a 120 HZ VRR screen, and Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives. I think it has a few better features.

The steam deck is more expensive but cheaper in the long run considering steam sales. Switch 2 games are 80$. I’m a huge Nintendo fan, but 80$ is absolutely ridiculous. Sure you can’t play switch 2 exclusives, but I’m fine with that considering I have a way wider array of games that I can buy for 1-10$ during steam sales.

I would agree however: -The $80 is for one game without DLC -You can get the game for essentially $30 off if you get the bundle from the get go In the long run, $80 games is absolute bullshit however it’s not necessary to pay that much and rn not even the most common way to get it with how many bundles are being sold. Also, Nintendo constantly is putting stuff on the switch store for around 80-90% off lol. I swear I’m not a Nintendo meat rider but if we’re being objective this is how it is.

If Nintendo starts putting the $80 price tag on non bundled games with no other avenue to get it for cheaper however it will become indefensible. Seeing how they’re not doing that with any other games on the lineup rn I’m hopeful it stays this way.
