honestly all you need to do is be like “yeah that sucks” “i’m so sorry that happened” “you’re right to feel that way”. it really goes a long way

i’m horrible at this same for giving sympathy/empathy it’s too awkward for me esp when people cry i just be standing there like 🧍🏼‍♀️
