Lowkey pissed that the cat distribution system has never picked me like I had to actively seek out my cat on the shelter website and she is in fact my perfect angel but I also would love to obtain a cat the way god intended behind a dumpster

it picked me once but i had found poor kitty in the middle of the road and she needed both of her back legs amputated and i couldn’t afford it so i had to give her up to the shelter :( she was also around 3 ish weeks and wouldn’t take formula so i was at a loss. i still feel so guilty i keep telling myself i don’t deserve a cat 🥲

you did the best you could! you were being responsible by acknowledging that you did not have the capacity to properly take care of the kitten and gave her to someone who could do it. it doesn’t make you undeserving, it makes you more deserving! you have the ability to know when you are able to care for a cat you’ve got this!

Please don’t feel bad, that sounds like an extremely medically complex case and that baby 100% needed to be cared for by a professional! Even without injured legs, she might have needed to be tube fed, which should only be done by a professional. You did the right thing by bringing her somewhere else to get the care she needed, which makes you more deserving of a cat imo! It’ll pick you again one day, don’t worry 🫶🏻
