I’m sorry but those “Jesus loves you” posts or comments absolutely everywhere on the most random things are getting more and more annoying

Same with the “Jesus is king” comments guys leave on interfaith posts. I swear we could all be friends if some people didn’t have beans for brains

I’ve said this on here before but my dad is a literal pastor and my life has revolved around religion, I could not be more educated and I chose to leave. So many people make it out to be like oh read the Bible and go to service and talk to people and you’ll want to follow God. I don’t want to. And people need to leave people alone and respect that.

I do respect that but I also think people who don’t follow the church should respect people who want to spread kindness. If they’re literally forcing you that’s one thing but usually people are respectful

default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #9 3w

So why is my criticism not valid when people are being rude and telling me that god is not real?

upvote -2 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #2 3w

Thats not relevant here because no one is going up to random no religious posts saying ‘god is not real’. People are discussing how comments like ‘jesus loves you’ or ‘jesus is king’ where religion is not being discussed is rude because it is often a manipulative use of those words intended to give the poster a sense of control and violate boundaries or put down OP. Then the poster will play innocent because they were just ‘being positive. Its like saying ‘bless your heart’.

Anonymous replying to -> #9 3w

People DO go up to random religious posts and say this stuff all the time. And anti-religious people are always bringing it up too so it really does go both ways

upvote -1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #2 3w

If you want to discuss how it is rude for people to go to religious posts and say their beliefs are not real, that is valid criticism but that is a wildly different scenario. If you are inserting your religion into nonreligious spaces and then getting made when people are rude back, you’re not being critical you’re being a hypocrite.

Anonymous replying to -> #2 3w

Key word- religious posts. See the difference?? This person saying ‘god isn’t real’ in that situation is discusiing religion in a religious space where it is already being discussed. OP is discussing non-religious posts. See the difference?? While yes it is valid criticism to feel it is rude to enter religious spaces to disparage them, people are not doing that in nonreligious spaces with no reason to bring god up. Again, we are talking about inserting religion on random posts in general.

Even still I don’t feel it’s a huge deal. Just scroll past that comment it’s not going to ruin your day unless you let it

Anonymous replying to -> #2 3w

Oh nonono, what we are not going to do is insinuate that people sound just put up with attempts to use Jesus to be manipulative and disrespectful. You dont know the person you’re talking to, and if they have experienced religious trauma it could ruin their day. Unless religion is being discussed, don’t make those comments. It not hard. Take responsibility for yourself instead of expecting people to put up with bad behavior.

If one comment saying Jesus loves you ruins your day you might need to take a step back and look at yourself

‘If someone violates your boundaries and it ruins you day you might need to take a step back’ - this is what your saying. Clearly you dont care about how you impact people and that says alot about how you use jesus’s name. Your the problem my guy

If one comment on a post, which is about Jesus of all things, violates your boundaries and you can’t just move on then yes that is a problem. Can’t imagine what you would say if someone actually did violate you and that’s sad.

upvote 10 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #2 3w

And here we go, continuing to minimize the problem so your don’t have to take responsibility and change your behavior after its been communicated as being harmful. Behavior like this is why the phrase “no hate like Christain love” has been coined. Considering how jesus’s name has been used to violate people like you imply you should know better. Leave Jesus out of your ego and out of your mouth.

Ok actually I wanna go and say that someone saying Jesus loves you online doesn’t ruin my day but it does actually bother me. But that’s because I’ve gotten good at not letting strangers words get to me because I’m used to awful stupid worse things on the internet. But when people are like this when I know them it does ruin my day and that is happening a lot. And I know a lot of you act like this irl

Minimizing something because you are not impacted by it is bullying and demonstrates a lack of empathy. There is nothing personal about meeting you at your own level. If you don’t like it, then reflect on the fact on the fact that everything is not about your personal experience.

Clearly not if you don’t know Christianity’s history and why mentioning jesus can be a negative experience for other people. You do understand that many people out in the real world use jesus as a means to inflict abuse right? Not all religious experiences are positive ones and failure to acknowledge that is a massive part of the issue
