Okay, hold on—legit tryna get all this info out of my brain—I’m seeing that the shooter was a radical leftist guy, not a groyper (which is also something I hadn’t heard of until today, so forgive me if I use it wrong in conversation) who had LGBTQ stances and a trans partner. And dude wrote “hey fascist, catch,” which would typically be leftist language when shooting Charlie Kirk? What the heck?
From what I’m seeing the “radical left” stance that has been taken by the media is a way to demonize democrats. His “trans partner” has not been confirmed and it is possible he lived with a trans person at some point but some reports also say he lived at home. He wrote many memes on the shell casings including the “hey fascist catch” but also stuff like “notices, bulges, OWO, what’s this?” Which apparently gryopers are incredibly terminally online and use a lot of meme speak like that
The tiktoker @cybelecanterel posted a great video on Christian nationalism vs gryopers that I highly recommend because she breaks it down in a much better way than I could. Nick Fuentes is at the head of it all though he’s a podcaster/commentator much like Kirk was but even more extreme in his beliefs. He was the man who coined the phrase “your body my choice” after the election
It’s hard to make a full profile of the shooter since allegedly he’s not cooperating with FBI but we do know he was raised right wing and followed many right wing politicians and also Nick Fuentes and liked tweets from Nancy Mace who called out Charlie Kirk when he demanded the release of the Epstein files before later backtracking. Many people who knew him said he was very chronically online which would be on par with gryoper behavior
Not tryna be an argumentative asshole, I swear, but literally the only media I am seeing when I search this dude is “living with trans partner” type stuff, not anything about living at home. And I’ve seen more left people (I don’t mean this derogatory, I just don’t know how to put this) on places like Reddit where that terminology is incredibly common, so when I first heard it, I was like “oh? Was it a left leaning person?”
’s video because she can break it down way better than I can and describes how that kind of meme speak is used as a sort of “code” in those spaces and how different groups of people interpret them differently it’s interesting but also scary because I had no idea that these people existed till like yesterday
No I don’t blame you I think it’s human nature to be curious and ask questions I honestly don’t trust people who don’t ask questions lol but a good faith discussion can definitely go a long way! That’s what I liked about that video though was she talked about how the memes lure especially younger people into crowds like that because they’re such an easy form of communication it’s really all around us and we would never know.
