First time waitressing, 2nd shift, and it seems like I’ll be thrown right into peak again tonight with no shadowing etc. Any advice for a) how to maximize tips, b) how to keep my tasks manageable? I will have 3-5 tables AAT, serving/bussing/running.

Be friendly and play into being new. Keep yourself organized. Double check with your tables to make sure you understand what they are asking for. Wear comfortable shoes.

It was my “first week” for a month. Wear make up and do your hair nice, sounds bad, but I’ve made hella tips off just wearing make up, even when my service was bad. Wearing glasses helps too. Idk why. I don’t need prescription, so I wear blue light glasses at work. For me, no make up- 17% tip average. Just Make up or just glasses- 20% tip average. Both make up and glasses - 25% tip average.

One year, I did an experiment with what color eye shadow got me more tips. Pink, neutral, blue, purple. — purple was it for me. And girl. ACCESSORIZE. The gaudier the jewelry, the more tips I made.
