It doesn’t really need to be said unless you’re looking for comfort about the situation. I’ve had one and I usually don’t say anything about it.

I think it’s important to know his view on the subject before telling him about yours. It can save you a lot of trauma. If he’s against it you can quietly break things off without the risk of him saying something hurtful and if he claims he’s okay with it you can see if he actually means that by sharing your experience if you are comfortable
