? No one said that. The data shows that younger women are having less kids while 30-40 year old women are having them at about the same rate as before. It’s women taking their time to live for themselves before deciding to commit to something as life-changing as motherhood and I’ll always support that
No one is villainizing motherhood? It’s just a good thing that more and more women are taking their time to work on themselves and mature before jumping into having kids without being prepared. Maybe your mom was prepared at a young age but that’s not the reality for most people. Plus, a lot more women would want kids sooner if this country weren’t so hostile towards mothers and flat out unaffordable
I don’t think it’s being spoken bad about, some woman don’t want kids and some do. But it’s important to prevent pregnancy if you can until you truly want a kid. In this economy everything is expensive and children are. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with this post and everyone is different. I know people who already have kids and are super happy! While other friends who are focusing on travel and school!
You’re absolutely welcome to! They’re only at an all-time low because we have more say in if/when we want them and because many of us don’t want them to struggle because of where we are right now. If you feel you’re ready and able and are willing to love your kid unconditionally, go for it.
the world is overpopulated yes, but having significantly low birth rates in the US can lead to major labor/economic issues, strains on health care and social security, & lower amt of working class folks (which means higher retirement age to fill jobs). having more kids, government incentives (not always effective), & letting in more immigrants are the main viable solutions
Just a heads up- the world is not overpopulated, it’s a resource distribution issue. The idea that it is comes from a debunked book from the 70s called “the population bomb” by a eugenicist who was mostly upset about developing and nonwhite nations having higher birth rates than ours. The idea has been disproven but the book and its thesis still float around in pop science for some reason.
Cheering for a dropping birth rate is just a bit, bro. It’s a joke. Cheering that women are settling into their lives with careers and waiting until they’re financially stable to have kids IS real, though. Do I need to explain why it’s good that teen pregnancies are declining and pregnancies at later ages is increasing?
i feel like mid twenties realistically is the best age to have kids if you’re able. at least if you want to be young and energetic parents and if you want your parents to be young and energetic grandparents and for your grandparents to be in their great grandchildren’s lives. but that depends on the family support situation.
Capitalism isn’t a sustainable economic system and the cracks are starting to form right in front of our very eyes. Why am I and so many others struggling to afford a place to live while there are people who make more money than they’ll ever need (billionaires) by exploiting people’s labor?? Idgaf about capitalism, it deserves to fall apart
