It’s so sad seeing companies lay off a ton of their employees and then the next week post about how many roles they have open and are actively looking to hire. Like why did you not try to keep the people already at your company employed?

sometimes they just lie about hiring to look like they’re a growing and in demand company

At the company my brother works at (wont say the name but it’s a top company in the world) he said that they are laying off employees and then quickly turning around and hiring for those same positions but hiring people in India cause they can pay them way less than Americans. A lot of companies during covid realized that they really don’t need that many people in person so they will have one or two Americans on a team just in case they need them in person then the rest can be remote

That’s true too. There are a couple companies I’ve been watching repost the same job for almost a year now

And then waste everyone’s time who applied

From the outside that kinda sucks for me bc the sheer amount of companies I’ve applied to just to for them to say nvm we have promoted internally. Like I think they knew they were going to do that all along.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it but they need to stop letting everyone apply when that’s clearly what’s gonna happen 😭

atp im gonna rely on nepotism and see if my dad has anything for me to do at his company 💀 ive been in retail for over 2 years after college because no one is responding

That last sentence is so real, can’t relate to the nepotism part tho bc I’ve already tried to get an in with literally everyone I know and it’s led me nowhere bc no one is important to their company basically 😭

Yeah I’ve had interviews where I know enough about how they are supposed to go to be able to tell they don’t plan on hiring anyone externally for the role but they need to show that they did interview so I basically sit there and listen to two coworkers talk about their day to each other and I’m like “how is this relevant to the job and why aren’t they asking me questions”

outsourcing is a genuine cancer in the states, that’s one of the only things I agree with conservatives on - prioritizing American jobs needs to be incentivized way more to companies. all this outsourcing is fucking up our economy
