what does it have to do with saying you aren’t petite though? i personally see petite as having a small figure, which might be how your grandma sees it too, and you probably see it as being short. don’t think her comment was correlated with her eating issues tbh

there's still much better words you could use to describe a heavier short person that don't have a connotation of thinness or daintiness. the used meaning in this particular case isn't far from the definition. i would argue that the only reason a person would describe themselves as petite while being heavier is wishing they could be associated with that connotation.
