Looking back on it I’m real glad my dad thought me basic skills growing up. Because what do you mean you have to pay someone to replace your door or change out the window glass???
I was never taught this stuff specifically but I was taught to figure out things on my own, which has been so helpful living in my own space away from my parents

for real, my parents taught my siblings and i about work ethic and i had an evaluation at work recently and my supervisor spoke about my professionalism the most, which in my opinion is so hard to come by nowadays

Me realizing some people’s dads don’t teach them how to properly put together furniture and things like that

Yeah this is the kinda stuff I mean. Just knowing that even if you don’t know how to do something directly, being able to figure it out is a really good skill.
