My Roman Empire is the loss of indigenous European beliefs systems after Christianity took over. Those cultures were so rich and beautiful and now most of them are lost to time

Why is that Christianity’s fault? They can both exist, I’m asking respectfully ofc!

Gonna google the Sardinians and if I find out their name has nothing to do with sardines, I will be disappointed

it’s not christianity’s fault per but powerful religious institutions could mandate that other belief systems stop being practiced

Colonization really

I’d factor in historical events like the crusades and inquisition where people who had non-Christian beliefs were forcefully displaced, labeled as heretics, and/or killed

Definitely don’t agree w that in any way, just don’t think it’s fair to completely say it’s bc of Christians like what

what do you mean you don’t agree with history? what?

I wouldn’t put blame fully on Christians, but you can’t deny that that played a massive role in suppression of other religions 😅

Not at all what I said lol. I said I don’t agree that it’s solely bc of Christians but like you said there was obviously powerful people forcing things which is horrible. But blaming it solely on one thing just isn’t correct

I might be wrong, but I think sardines were named after Sardinia, so it does have to do with sardines

i don’t think you fully comprehend that entire folklores and belief systems are no longer practiced today. yes, jewish people and christian people coexist today but that’s not what we’re talking about? we’re talking about lost cultures.

But those religions aren’t as prominent nowadays because of what happened in the past. The past affects the future and that’s what OP’s post was about. And you might be replying to the wrong person because you literally said to me “definitely don’t agree with that”

Now the sass, wow! Have a good day maybe learn to speak like you aren’t calling someone stupid. As I said you can be respectful by not wording things implying someone can’t comprehend things.

Yup according to my mini research, sardines were named because of the island Sardinians lived on which had a lot of sardines. But Sardinians came first

Christianity just took over and mostly by force. You had to be publicly Christian (of some denomination) otherwise you were killed, tortured, imprisoned, etc. it wasn’t the fault of the religion as a religion can’t actively do anything but it was absolutely the fault of those who practiced at the time. Theocracies were a massive part of that.

Even if you Ignore things like the crusades, conversion because of Christian missionaries played a part. Like the stories of St Patrick bringing Christianity to Ireland and converting people from the Druid tradition. Whether you think missionaries converting groups is a good or bad thing, we have to acknowledge it IS true Christianity had a big part to play in people leaving their other beliefs behind.
