Bc I’m horrible with money and will spend impulsively when I don’t need to and asking, then waiting for a response makes me take the time to consider if I REALLY need the item

Yeah that makes total sense but maybe when you’re around other people you could word it like “do you think I should buy this?” And not “can I buy this?” Because it just sounds a little better
