That sucks, I’m so sorry girl. Fuck all these people flaming you in the comments. Tracking fertility is not as simple as looking at a calendar, no birth control is ever 100% effective, and despite you being responsible something could still happen. They have no idea what you’re doing for yourself on a day to day basis. I’m glad you were able to access the care you needed! It should have been much cheaper than that! ❤️🩹❤️🩹
That’s why I’m grateful for the clinic here, and they want to take it away. If you need an abortion, they give you a list of numbers, and it’s different women and charities who will donate the money to you. I remember finding out I was pregnant; I cried so bad. The guy removed the protection without my knowledge. The dr told me the abortion was $500. I told her I don’t have it. Got the numbers called, and a lady donated to me. The dr drove 1 hr to get me and took me back home. Thats a
these negative comments are actually insane!! all of the comments saying "you clearly never took a health class" are so fucking stupid because they literally teach you that the only form of birth control that is 100% is to not have sex. contraception failure is very much real!! "use a condom" is such a bs argument. like spend less time being an idiot and go onto the planned parenthood website where it says IF USED CORRECTLY, there is still only a 98% chance of it working. sorry for being so long
never understood this logic, “were fertile for less so we shouldnt have to be on bc” wouldnt it be worse for dudes whod have to suppress their hormones every single day? you just have a cycle thats being disrupted by bc, for us its a constant biological function that would have to be constantly suppressed. obvi idk how bc would work on dudes, but i think its more intuitive to imagine it would affect them worse, **i dont mean to challenge anything besides how intuitive what u said actually was**
Sperm can live in the vagina for 5 days while an egg is only able to live for one sometimes even a little over that. Men are the ones responsible for getting a woman pregnant as they are fertile 24/7 365 days a year. If men cant handle the responsibility then they should choose to not have sex
Exactly. Men treat sex like it’s meant for their pleasure. When, in reality, it’s meant for women. Women can only get pregnant those 6 days, yet here they are the one on the pill, responsible for the consequences of men’s ill behavior, and the cost and trauma of an abortion/plan b. Men go around fucking anyone and anything, like they don’t have not a worry in the world. Men should be on birth control, period.
If it’s so irregular then, don’t you think it’s important you go on protective things like BC, pill, patch, IUD?? Whether they’re 100% effective or not, it’s ignorant to blame a man when we’re the ones fertile - which to get pregnant is actually very difficult considering yeah we only have a small window unless we’re like incredibly fertile as fuck🤣 I wasn’t condescending OP - I was just informing
Or we can be abstinent? Y’all act like sex doesn’t have consequences. Again, I’m not dissing on any of yall, or on OP, I’m just SAYING sex of any form HAS consequences. Whether it be the cost of an abortion, pregnancy, or suckiness of NOT having sex. I’m just saying be aware rather than bitch and moan about something that IS/CAN be bound to happen
I understand what you mean I just feel like we shouldn’t be so quick to assume all cases are the same. Sometimes both parties can consent but one person could have coerced the person into saying yes or the person could be underage and even when someone has authority power over another person it is considered to be unconsentual
Get on birth control to regulate my periods… you’re a genius!!! I’ve literally never thought about that!!! Bitch. I’ve tried and am trying different birth control methods but every single one has caused terrible side effects. You really think you ate with that but you’re just revealing how genuinely, embarrassingly stupid you are. The fact that someone like you with a single digit IQ can get into college is terrifying
there’s literally 4 billion women on the planet. women having access to abortion does not mean it’s going to result in the total extinction of humankind. that’s a ridiculous and juvenile and frankly outlandish way of thinking. climate change, nuclear war, and class disparity will probably cause the total declination of society, not a random woman getting an abortion. lmfao
The option to not have to pay for an abortion because men aren’t carrying the child yet have just as much involvement in a pregnancy as a woman does. The option to be respected and not belittled for every choice a woman makes. The option to walk down a street and not have to fear for your life. The option to act however men please because “boys will be boys”. My question for you is why do you have so much hatred in your heart?
So if you’re really so pro life and want to prevent abortions you should spend your time trying to provide sex ed, ethical adoptions, and things that actually prevent unwanted pregnancy and give women a choice. Shaming strangers on the internet when you don’t know their circumstances is extremely sad and is never going to get you anywhere.
So if your daughter got raped at 12, you’d expect her to give birth to that child, scar her forever, and then put that baby into a foster system that may or may not work in its favor? By your logic, ALL abortions, regardless of the circumstances, are wrong? Even if the women’s pelvis isn’t full developed, even if that would mean the baby could end up on the streets, even if the mother drinks or does drugs, even if the adoption ends in child abuse? YOUR LOGIC MAKES NO SENSE. Cognitive dissonance
Yeah so I was actually raped by my brother as a young child. Had I been old enough to pregnant what would you have suggested? I kept an incest baby and I raised it with my abusive brother? Like… that’s so fucked. I already have nightmares and constant reminders of the trauma I went through. Now you want to force me to raise a baby with health issues that is an even more constant reminder of the shit I was put through?
Holy shit man. I was 6 when I went through that. If it would’ve happened when I was 12 which is when I would’ve started menstruating, then I wouldn’t have been developed enough to carry a baby. You’d be putting me and the child’s life at risk atp. Not to mention you’d be putting me through the trauma of giving birth and having to do all of the things pregnant women have to do. And when that baby would’ve arrived it likely would’ve had mutations if it even lived at all. plus a short life span
I can’t even with you right now. I hope you know that it’s people like you that is what makes society so fucking wrong. I wish fuck heads like you had a little bit of empathy. Because I almost killed myself in my teen years just because of the constant nightmares and trauma. Tbh if I had to carry I child I probably would’ve. And it’s fuckers like you that are a constant reminder of why men think it’s okay to control women’s bodies whether that be through rape or abortion. Fuck you
Haunt me how? Literally how. You know what would haunt me? Pushing out a baby I’m not ready for. That would haunt me. This decision is for the quality of myself, my partner, and for future the baby I’ll have when I AM ready. To provide that child with the best quality form of life when I am truly able to. Not force it.
Yknow people have irregular cycles yeah? I’ve had my period for a decade and it’s literally the perfect normal cycle (almost always perfectly on time, 28 day cycle, lasts 5 days, symptoms are pretty standard) and now I’m randomly expecting my cycle changing by a week out of nowhere. As we grow our hormones shift and our periods change. We may think we’re properly tracking our fertile window but shit happens. You’re also not considering that contraceptions could’ve been used and failed.
It can be really hard to tell the difference in discharge, and sometimes it varies. I’ve had ovulations where my discharge wasn’t heavy and periods where a day before it looked like ovulation discharge. Also everyone’s bodies vary and looking at a chart alone can make it hard to tell what’s happening in your body. And again, unless you’re getting real personal it can be hard to track discharge specifically especially once it hits underwear.
You’re not even supposed to be commenting in this group at all— but you clearly have never seen the side effects that come from BC and the risks they can pose for many, either. You’re able to, hypothetically, impregnate someone new every single moment of every day from puberty until death. You don’t have a monthly cycle of fertility. You don’t spend most of a pregnancy unable to be impregnated again, and your fertility doesn’t just stop at around 50. Pregnancy is much better prevented by you.
i have seen the side effects and the risks, all i said is that intuition says they might be worse for dudes. yes pregnancy is better prevented by us if were a bunch of monkeys constantly fucking one another like yeah preg rates will reduce, but that isnt the point of bc its to allow people to prevent their own individual pregnancies who cares whats gonna reduce the most pregnancies whys that relevant, if that isnt what you meant then myb but what else does “pregnan is better prevented by u” mean
Because we have been told our whole lives about what to do with our bodies. Not to mention it is common practice in certain oppressive parts of the world to sterilize women. Sure it happens to men, but it happens way more to women. Not to mention a lot of us are forced on BC from a young age. And the second someone suggest you guys take control of things, which btw have less side effects (like the gel that’s currently in trial) you still are trying to make us do it instead of sharing re
We’re sick of you dumb fucks who don’t even know your own biology telling us what to do with ours while actively working to revoke access to healthcare and autonomy. YOU are able to cause more pregnancies in one year than any one woman could ever see in a thousand lifetimes. Your ilk are constantly obsessing over sex and your own pleasure, always talking about how “condoms aren’t as fun”, constantly pushing US to be responsible for YOUR irresponsibility. I’m fucking sick of cis men.
This is bullshit. I should be a shared responsibility and they realistically should be doing more research into male contraceptives. And some women literally become super depressed because of their birth control along with other side effects. And did you realize the whole reason birth control pills were even invented was so women could sneakily control contraception without their husbands knowing? Because it was unsafe for them to not want more kids.
no ones telling you what to do with your body, literally phrased my sentence rhe exact same way you phrased yours, dont dish out what you cannot recieve. And AGAIN i dont give a FUCK abt literally anything you just said, i was only attacking the INTUITIVENESS. if they come out with bc for dudes that would be GREAT, SHIT, id LOVE to take ts into my own hands, give myself some peace of mind. if i was completely wrong abt the side effects and theyre better for men then fucking good????
yall genuinely get so worked up fighting your own dumbass interpretations of what im saying, next time before you wanna wish castration on me, refer to the shit that i put in double asterisks in my first message and stop trying to figure out what i think abt shit instead of just asking
Because the whole reason birth control even became women’s responsibility was because men beat their wives and made them feel like they had to hide pregnancy prevention. They also raped them. The history of birth control isn’t really born out of pregnancy prevention but rather trying to keep women safe. That’s why historically it became women’s responsibility, and it carried onto today’s world. I think had it been created under other pretenses, it’d be more of a shared responsibility
ok well for the record this looks a little worse now cuz 11 deleted their og comment for some reason, but the reply i made where i mentioned tubal sterilization “you hormones would be perfectly fine and unaffected by tubal sterilization.” was a reply to the exact message “your hormones would be perfectly fine and unaffected by a vasectomy.” i was only trying to point out that they had brought up something completely unrelated to the bc i was trying to discuss
You don’t know if she already has those things though. There is still a 0.02% chance even with an IUD or a Nexplanon. It could have failed or rejected or literally anything without her input or knowledge. It is the responsibility of both parties, but even being careful results in these things sometimes. Women, responsible or not, should always have access to the care they need.
All the stuff about pregnancy aside, this is still an awful take. Sex and intimacy are a huge part of (most, not all) people’s relationships. You should know that you two are compatible in that sense (or if there are physical issues, i.e. intolerance to PIV or ED) before you commit to someone like that. Sex isn’t everything of course and it doesn’t define love, but you’re being irresponsible to ignore it until after marriage.
Forcing people to carry a child is not how that’s going to be fixed. Advocating for free and comprehensive healthcare, free education, having healthy food and stable housing available to everyone, a prison reform, gun control, taxing the elites, keeping religion out of politics, and holding greedy fucks accountable is how we can make it so fewer people suffer. But you want to scream “socialism bad!” instead of accepting that how things are now ISN’T FUCKING WORKING.
I think you need to spend some quality time around kids in need and your opinion will change. Parents are selfish and bring kids into bad circumstances all the time and the kids pay the price. I knew a girl who thankfully got adopted out but tried to kill herself at 10 because of the sexual abuse she suffered in foster care. I also got asked if I wanted to adopt a drug addicted baby when I was 19 and could barely afford to feed myself. I wish all of them could get real help and homes they won’t
You’re being disrespectful af assuming op is a dumbass who hasn’t considered BC. Also again, abortion is like insanely expensive for no fucking reason. A lot of healthcare is. Just because I go outside and get sick as a consequence doesn’t mean I can’t then bitch how expensive it is for treatment.
Right right because I’d rather be born with a mother who doesn’t love me and put in a system where I’ll be raped abused and forgotten instead of never existing or having the concept of existence..right right right. So what donations or contributions have you made to pregnant women and kids in your personal life? Sense you care so much?
I know someone who is pregnant because she didn’t realize antibiotics messed with her birth control due to her lack of sex ed in school. The unfortunate thing is that accidents happen and not everyone is educated. And even if they are educated and doing everything, precautions still fail. So stop shaming strangers on the internet when you don’t know them or their lives. It’s pathetic
That’s deadass how my mom got pregnant with me, was on bc, used a condom, did all the things. Was finishing up the last bit of her antibiotics and BAM here I was 9 months later. And even though she loves me and said she doesn’t regret her decision, I know she grieves who she could’ve been. I know she wants a different life for me.
Tbh I just didn’t care to argue anymore with a man who probably has a light up keyboard. Your opinion on women’s bodies is so stupid. Not to mention it’s so misogynistic for you to think that the responsibility should be on women because “it’ll affect women less”. Your whole argument is contradicting itself. You’re claiming that you’re not telling women to be on birth control while claiming it’s affect them less. Thus you’re suggesting it should be a female responsibility
wrong!! if you refer to my FIRST FUCKING COMMENT youll find the only thing i attacked was the intuitiveness behind the idea that women would be affected less!! like cmon, i never said bc effects women less, cuz no one fucking knows whether it does or not cuz there isnt a bc for men why would anyone ever argue rhe hypothetical effects of a male bc??? also you still havent shown where i told women what to do with their bodies, if u wanna apologize for misrepresenting me id be thankful🙏
Right here you’re claiming that it’d affect men less. Which btw it actually doesn’t, you keep making testosterone, a lot of the male birth controls in studies just affect sperm. However, for women it “just affecting our cycle” affects a lot. A lot of them cause heavier periods, bad depression, etc. but regardless, by saying it’d affect men less you’re making it seem like it should be a female responsibility because you’re too arrogant to even learn about the male bc that are being created
Here’s the thing, if you’re uneducated on something why comment? Majority of your statement is saying that it should be women’s responsibility bottom line. And if you’re uneducated about something do research instead of arguing with women on a women’s form and then getting mad when they call you out.
fair! (to only the first sentence) i was just tryna make a lil pass at the intuitiveness of the idea that men deserve the burden. never said it should be womens responsibility bottom line just didnt like the idea it should intuitively be mens responsibility because theyre fertile all the time. i can assure you i only got mad when yall starting making shit up lmao
NES/T has never been on the market before and got fda approval because it encountered hurdles during phase 3 clinical trials due to lack of funding, not because of headaches. the lack of funding however was in part due to the deeply entrenched idea that bc should be womens responsibility just because it has been for so long and funders were worried not a large enough population would be willing to rely on a male bc
but to your point, yeah, before researching all this i didnt know the bc being tested for men was hormonal, so my claim “no one knows what it does to guys” is wrong to an extent (in that we know most side effects not all (since its never completed all trials)) but that wasnt really my point, i only said that to try and explain how absurd what they thought i was arguing was, my main argument was never that bc has been proven to effect men worse
Honestly I’m proud of you for doing research. I was talking about Vasalgel which is still getting tested. But the huge thing is, the reason they don’t think there’s a demand on male birth control is because men make false assumptions like you did, and think it’ll affect them worse than it does women. And the reason a lot of people argue that it should be a male burden is because I know guys who have multiple baby mamas in a year. You don’t see a lot of women having multiple baby daddies in a year
i dont think women should bear the brunt, but i also dont think the greater reproductive capacity men have automatically implies a greater moral obligation to take bc. Actually, interesting idea i just came up with, wanting men to bear the brunt is just a dangerous idea, what happens when a malicious man chooses not to take it for a couple days just to get a girl pregnant and ruin her life for however long, like its lwk safer for women that its in their hands, idk, if im geeking lmk
I mean men get baby trapped. I think that whole thing goes both ways. But I know I would feel better if my bf also took birth control, just to increase our chances of preventing pregnancy. I think if you’re in a trusting relationship it shouldn’t be an issue. Not only that, some women cannot be on contraceptives for whatever reason and it’d be nice to give couples a different option
It’s apart of the reason i was so frustrated. It’s because although you may think your initial comment was harmless, it does spread false information or at least ideas. And so one person walks away with this idea and gives it to someone else and it continues to spread. But if you change the narrative to this is something we need and would be beneficial then it’s more likely to become reality.
