A- dumb thing to report But B- the pouch is because of the uterus Despite the uterus YES being back further. The female body wants to protect the uterus itโ€™s our reproductive main organ on an animal with a long gestational period so it naturally stores fat there to protect the organ from trauma (from physical attack to prolonged stress and starvation) so there are ways to get the pouch to go down but itโ€™s also important to understand the body wants (hormonal, physiologically) to be padded there

It was in another community. Basically someone came into my post after showing an album and said โ€œm@sterb@t3โ€ but they used the actual word not the censored one

If youโ€™re curious what album it was, it was โ€œOopsโ€ฆI Did It Again!โ€

Discussions about fat there often tend to skirt around the reality of the body, being a mammal who carries for 9 months (which is through multiple seasons which evolutionarily have different levels of caloric availability) so our bodies are primed for fat storage there - some more so than others but that gets into complex genetic, epigenetic, and even historical discussions

itโ€™s like the lil pooch that safe happy cats develop, they are not fat/over fed, itโ€™s just extra protection (even when fixed). i will say tho your body will lose the pooch tho but often itโ€™s as a result of lacking proper nutritional care. a pooch is a sign of a safe happy body, because it allows fat storage instead of burning it all to stay alive.

Exactly - like I said a lot of discussion around it forgets that we are bodies and ultimately animals. If you wouldnโ€™t look at a happy healthy cat and hate how they look, why shame yourself for having a body that wants to protect you and keep you safe

I want to know more about the genetic, epigenetic, and historical discussions. Could you educate us about some of the complexities of it? I would like to know

Long story short - genetically some peoples bodies arrange fat differently (such as someone with hashimotoโ€™s) - epigenetically some peoples bodies can, through gene expression not DNA alternation, can store fat in certain ways due to factors like inherited stress (such as the studies on how the children of famine survivors gain weight fast and hold it longer) - the same is true for historic reasons, but with a bit more complications that are far reaching 1/2

Such as how many Asian individuals are lactose intolerant- historically these groups were not exposed to as much lactose and did not develop the ability to digest it as well. Something similar is true for many Irish people- thereโ€™s a high rate of celiacs among them because they didnโ€™t have much expose to gluten for long periods of time. Where this is relevant far wide is if you come from a long line of people who were bigger or in situations that called for high calorie storage due to 2/3

Food shortages thereโ€™s a higher chance you will find it difficult to lose weight. This is sometimes called the โ€œthrifty geneโ€ but itโ€™s still being actively researched, particularly in groups like Samoans where in island conditions calories needed to be stored and used in a highly efficient manner
