Sometimes I feel fat as a skinny girl but it’s an inside thoughts cus it would be kinda insensitive to say thought to my friends who are bigger than me

body dysmorphia exists both ways, i don’t mean that i a bad way but just imagine saying you feel fat around someone bigger than you? it’s all objective and im sure she didn’t mean it in a condescending way!!

This is extremely insensitive, I understand feeling like it might have been personal or rich coming from someone skinny. But body dysmorphia and ED’s DO EXIST PEOPLE like these comments are actually pmo so much. I let people make fun of how skinny I am all the time and I take no offense to it, but there are some girls who genuinely are 80 pounds and think they are fat. This is why the internet is so dangerous and damaging for our brains and bodies.

ED propaganda is so strong right now everyone feels fat. Even if you are bigger than her, if she’s feeling insecure or uncomfortable with her body she should be allowed to talk to you about it and she should be able to feel safe with you. If you cant let her talk to you about her feelings and troubled thoughts then maybe she isn’t your friend.

Have you told her this? Sometimes people genuinely don’t know that what they said could be upsetting to you. If you call her out on it, in a respectful way, it might help her snap out of that mindset or motivate her to seek the help she seems to need

Then lose weight? If she’s not happy with her weight she’s entitled to that opinion. She didn’t call you fat. You did. And then took offense to it 😐

In my teens there were times I felt fat despite being thin, I think it was in part my gut was bigger than my tits. Lucky bigger woman existed so I didn’t starve myself, I knew if big women looked like beautiful women, me looking like a beer gut guy wouldn’t be fixed if I starved myself. But your friend has got to get the memo that if you say something with a negative connotation about a certain thing about themself and someone around them has more of that something, than that’s supper fucked up.

Why would you ever say that in front of someone, esp if they were bigger than you? There’s no such thing as feeling fat, ppl shouldn’t be saying that shit out loud. It affects other ppl

That’s like someone who’s shedding a lot of hair say “omg I feel like I have cancer” next to someone who’s losing their hair bc of cancer.. i guarantee the person with cancer would be offended

You actually technically can lose cancer. Also people gain weight for medical reasons outside of their control and they can’t just “lose” it so now what…..

Anonymous replying to -> #6 3w

yeah you can “technically” lose cancer,,, through chemo and other incredibly taxing, invasive, and expensive treatments. even medically, you can choose to lose the weight, will it be a lot harder? yes. but it’s nowhere near the level of cancer.

as it is with a fat person. why should anyone walk on eggshells around someone that’s bigger than them? just tell them you’re upset they said that and move on, i really don’t think she did that to slight op,

She didn’t even say she was unhappy with her weight, she said she felt fat. Which isn’t a feeling… and it’s using fat disparagingly? Bc she’s insecure she has the right to use fat in a disparaging way in front of other ppl? The entitlement

It’s not entitled to be insecure??? everyone has insecurities even celebrities. you guys just like to claim certain words for certain people and it’s rude. you can still feel fat no matter how skinny you are. Just because she saying it in front of a fat person doesn’t make it entitled. you’re entitled

If yall cant deal with your friends’ insecurities because YOU’RE insecure. Don’t blame them for that? Thats an issue you have to fix on your own. If you’re mad because you’re bigger than her then either fix your mindset and stop being selfish and learn not everything is about you or fix your insecurities because that’s not her fault and she shouldn’t have to keep her feelings to herself just because you hate yourself

We’re all insecure in one way or the other. Some of us are considerate enough to consider how voicing certain insecurities a certain way is harmful to others! Those are called inside thoughts Fat is not a feeling, it’s a material reality for fat ppl and ppl treat them as less than for being fat. Most ppl mean they feel ugly when they say they feel fat. How do you think that affects fat ppl. We can use better and considerate language

It’s entitled to think only your insecurities matter 1000%

Of course everyone’s matter, but saying someone isn’t allowed to confide in you because you don’t know how to act like a good friend and keep it about her and not about you is entitled. The skinny girl didn’t say her friend was fat she said SHE felt fat. That can still be a feeling. And that is still something you only made about yourself because you also feel fat. It’s double standards. Just because she’s skinny doesn’t mean she’s not allowed to feel insecure or talk about her insecurities.

Why does only friend A’s insecurity matter? That’s exactly the kind of entitlement I was referring to

upvote 1 downvote

It’s not about only hers mattering it’s about the fact friend B’s trying to downplay just because she’s MORE insecure. You can be insecure, everyone will be, but just because you think you’re worse than someone doesn’t mean they should keep it to themselves.

It’s entitled to think only your insecurities matter and to think that’s an invitation to use fatphobic language when it harms other ppl’s insecurities and EDs 1000%. Why can’t they just say theyre feeling insecure and don’t feel good in their body that day? Super easy. Why do they have to use fat disparagingly?

Anonymous replying to -> #3 3w

I didn’t say you were skinny or fat. I said skinny girls can still feel fat, they see themselves as fat no matter how skinny they are. So in their mind they ARE fat as well. It’s body dysmorphia and it’s something not easily cured on your own. So many people are in therapy or on medication because it screws with them so much. It’s not entitlement, it’s unrealistic beauty standards getting to their heads

upvote 1 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> #3 3w

It’s not using fat disparagingly, its that in her mind she literally is fat. Again? it’s body dysmorphia. You can’t just get rid of that in the heat of the moment. Stop making everything about yourself just because she thinks she’s fat doesn’t mean she was calling her friend fat. If you feel insecure because you’re fat then either learn to love it or do something about it because friend b didn’t say anything about friend a she just made it about herself.
