i “dated” a 25 year old when i was 19. he openly admitted to emotionally manipulating me into a relationship and then proceeded to threaten me if i didnt “help him out” or if we got into an argument. let’s just say ive sworn off relationships after that.

I was 19 dating a 23 y/o guy, and now I’m 23 dating a 26 y/o. Maturity wise, the guys are not v different but I was def getting manipulated when I was 19

I’m sorry, but when it’s a girl at 19, women are more mature then men, so saying another 19 year old boy, THATS A BOY. They are dumb, I date up so around 23-24 as a 20 year old, maybe 25, because literally the men my age are stupid. A 25 year old man’s brain is fully formed atp, not saying he’s exempt from being stupid but he’ll be more capable of being much more emotionally intelligent and using critical thinking skills, where most 19-20 year old women are, and have been.

i never know what to think of this lol. like i did it. he didn’t fuck me over in any way. he was always a gentleman. idk. it can be messy but it doesn’t always have to be that deep.

It’s more about life stages than anything tbh. How is a 25 year old, who should be thinking about their next career move after being in their field for several years at this point, relating to a teenager who hasn’t even figured out what they want to do, where they want to live, etc. and won’t be able to decide any of that for a few more years? Unless they’re both immediately in the work force, it just burdens both people

I’ve also seen a noticeable generational gap between myself and people 18-21, it’s so difficult trying to communicate effectively because we just didn’t grow up under the same circumstances

As someone in my 20s. You should think about it the other way. Because you think you’re mature at 19 but the. You hit 25 and then you think “god I was so childish/young” they should NEVER think “god I was so childish and young. Let me exclusively date 18 year olds fresh out of high school”

that’s why they said it’s based on maturity. everyone isn’t at the same level of maturity just bc they’re all the same age. ppl go through different things in life that can make them more mature early on. i’ll never get the age gap convo bc most of our parents are 2-3 years apart. someone from my school tried to say dating someone 2 years younger than you makes you a pedo and that’s absolutely nuts. we’re all grown
