Girl I was barely diagnosed. My dr just said “based on ur ultrasound and test levels it’s seems pretty likely” and that was the end of the conversation.

I never got an official diagnosis but my derm was the one to finally listen to me and my symptoms. She prescribed me Spironolactone and I’ve been golden ever since. Past doctors wrote me off as drug seeking 🙃

im a trans woman on spiro for my hrt. calling someone drug seeking for wanting to go on an androgen suppressant like spiro is fucking crazy. there is 0 ways you could abuse spiro, all it does is lower my libido and make me get crazy dehydrated all the time

Wait wait let me clarify, they dismissed me as drug seeking because I was going to urgent cares and PCPs with the complaint of paralyzing stabbing pains (which I didn’t know at the time were cysts rupturing). I think they assumed I wanted hard shit like opioids :,) I just wanted an answer. I didn’t even know spiro was an option until my derm suggested it

But I had one doctor tell me “well don’t cook then” when I said I was concerned I would turn on the stove or oven and get a pain out of nowhere and potentially cause a fire bc I literally could not move. I’d never felt so helpless in my life until that comment :/

that’s fucking disgusting. also they still should not be calling you drug seeking for going into the ER with crippling pains unless you have an actual history of serious drug abuse and even then they should still check you out first or refer you to a specialist if they’re hesitant to prescribe you pain meds. that’s just straight up medical malpractice. i’m so sorry that happened to you

Exactly!! I have zero history of drug abuse, I didn’t even touch the pain killer I was given after my wisdom teeth removal. That same doctor prescribed me 500mg of ibuprofen to take daily 😐 I did not take any because pain killers didn’t even help anyway and taking that daily is just asking for liver failure. In hindsight I should’ve reported her (and yes, this was a woman treating me like that)

yoooo the same shit happened to me!! at the beginning of fall semester last year i ended up in the ER one night with such a bad pain in my left ovary I literally could not stand up, i was in the fetal position almost the whole time. they said my ultrasound was normal and basically told me to take an ibuprofen and fuck off

my gyno reviewed the images at my last appt and was like “um your ovaries are not normal, they’re enlarged, and that combined w/ your pain and other more chronic symptoms screams PCOS to me” she did a bunch of tests and actually listened. she was so mad that the ER wrote it off like that esp bc my left ovary was almost TWICE the volume it should have been

that’s so buns 😭 my gyno explained my dx, the dietary restrictions, why she made those recommendations, and what other possible treatment options would be if i ended up needing medication
