one of my biggest dreams is to be a mom but i sometimes have the thought that it’s selfish of me to bring a person into a world and potentially pass down mental health issues, this world can be so cruel & i wouldn’t want that for my baby but

If it makes u feel better my grandmother and mom both had severe mental issues but it hasn’t gotten past down to me at least yet!

I never understood the whole having a kid is selfish idea. total opposite in my eyes I’m literally ravishing my body for 9 months, risking death at birth and signing up for at least 18 years of nonstop parenting. since when do selfish people sacrifice so much for a bigger picture

Ig it also depends on the type of mental illness but nurture plays a big role!

honestly a really good point, i guess i just never thought of it in that way because to me that’s a given when you decide to have a kid, you make sacrifices, you care for & protect them. i know how much goes into being a parent im in no way saying i think it would be easy i just can’t help but be scared of all the cruel things this world is capable of. i guess my point is are all the bad things in this world enough to keep a life from enjoying it. that is what seems selfish to me. my own fears.

yeah and that “given” is a hell of a lot wdym 😂😂 chancing death and giving life up as you know it is not a small price to pay but that’s just always been my pov like I actually want kids but I wanna live life first.
