I mean it’s hard to not hear the roar about Charlie Kirk since he has millions of followers across multiple platforms ANDDDD the assassination videos floating around social media shocking everyone. Of course it’s going to get more coverage. What happened to those kids is still horrific 😭

Obviously kids being killed is terrible too but what do you want people to be doing ? Rioting or something? We have been upset with school shootings before but unfortunately we get nowhere. Comparing these two issues makes no sense. They are the same issue, gun control. And in the US you are never going to get people to agree and actually change anything.

We honestly are just giving him sympathy because people are making fun of it which is not okay. I do not hear anyone making fun of the kids getting killed. All cases are terrible, all families deserve sympathy. No one should get made fun of, especially when you put aside beliefs they are all just humans who have families. Also if you look it up the kids, they are getting sympathy as well as Charlie. They are not getting as much, because again no one is making fun of it or mocking it.

MLK and Kirk were both public speakers who used their voice for their beliefs. They both got assassinated for their opinions and became what people were talking about on news and other platforms. The only difference is what they believed in, the platforms available back then compared to now. The main point is that they got assassinated for talking about their beliefs and became the talking point in news, radio, and now on social media for Kirk.

Disrespectful but Charlie made his whole platform out of being disrespectful? I’ll take it a step further, he made his platform out of being a terrible human being. He openly admitted that the civil rights bills were a mistake as he told that to young black children. He admitted that he was ok with having shootings, because that’s just the price that we have to pay for the Second Amendment, Right? Totally not sick ideology at all.

upvote 1 downvote

Look at the context with what he said. He said the civil rights bill was a mistake because it was so long, and it should have been written differently, that the outcome of the civil rights act of 1964 resulted unintentionally in MORE racism where it didn’t exist previously. He loved the intention of the act but disliked it because it didn’t accomplish what it was meant to do.

To keep the second amendment. Sorry but that is our right to have. Also people are still going to kill with other things just like Iryna Zaruska he is a criminal and used a knife most likely because he isn’t allowed to have a firearm. Also we have heard of criminals getting guns illegally. That is taking the guns away from law abiding citizens and making us vulnerable when criminals access them illegally or use other things. We need self defense.

And that part of the quote is fucking common sense. No one is expecting it to drop to zero, but his fuck face was okay with keeping things the way they are now instead of trying to fix the fucking problem. Gun control would lower the rates exponentially, and maybe we wouldn’t have a school shooting every day

upvote 7 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #9 6d

Also the rates in 2023 of people that used firearms for self defense was 61,000-65,000 and for homicides it was 17,900 so that easily shows guns are used for the better in many cases to save lives. If you don’t believe me you can look it up.

Yea, some sources say 49% of gun owners have used them to stop others from shooting, and other sources say it’s less than 1.9%. I’m not sure where that boundary lies, but I know that stronger gun laws keeps people who shouldn’t have guns from having guns. Stricter legislation is key.

Exactly, the issue at hand is not the guns themselves, it’s mental health and the sick individuals who feel the need to harm others, as a society we are failing mentally ill citizens. If there’s something that needs to change THAT is it. And there’s a billion factors contributing to mental illness today, especially social media.

I agree, mental health is a major part of the problem. It’s far too easy to get guns in many states in America. But again, it’s to be said that Charlie projected that violence into the world. It’s not what you’re saying is the problem, it’s what you’re NOT saying. I’m simply arguing that the publication of his death is blown out of proportion, because of who he was and who liked him.
