We can’t fucking win, can we? Jane Doe reported instantly. 99% of perpetrators get off scot free. The justice system is traumatizing. Can you imagine having to get swabbed down there right after being raped? Having to talk to the investigators for hours on end while they ask you the same questions over and over? Having people call you a liar because trauma caused your brain to forget details, and you were able to get those memories back later? Genuinely, with all due respect, fuck off.

You say that like it’s obvious, but it’s different for everyone while equally as traumatizing. There are so many reasons someone might not report what happened to them, and it takes empathy to realize that. Not to mention, the justice system does not always work as well as it did for you. I’m sorry what happened to you, but please don’t act like decisions are so obvious to another person who may deal with trauma differently.
