It is absolutely adorable, but $20 for shipping is a lot. If you explained that they’re handmade, you could probably get a decent amount for the cow itself, and that might even out for a lighter shipping cost

Oof, the shipping😬 personally I’d limit it to $5-10 for the shipping itself unless it was a need. However! I think your strawberry cow is so freaking adorable!! I think in total (shipping and all) the most I’d pay is about $35. Is that reasonable? I also wouldn’t want to short your work, so you might have better luck selling it for a better price at little venues/stands at fairs or festivals, you know? That way, you get all the money for yourself and there’s no shipping or fees to worry about

Unless you have boning in it where it needs the stability of a box I would use a shipping bag and I bet the cost will cut in half. I’ve been selling crochet nation wide for a couple years and never had an issue (that I’m aware of) with damage

Do you know if you were to put it in a vacuum seal bag if it would puff back up? If it does, you might be able to do that and get a smaller box

Very cute but $20 shipping is more than I’d be willing to spend personally

could you make shipping cheaper and add the cost to the product overall? for example $10 product $20 shipping becomes $25 product $5 shipping? also how are you shipping these that it’s $20 bc it looks pretty light

personally i wouldn’t especially if the product itself is already expensive. I understand it’s homemade but if the product is expensive then shipping shouldn’t be or vice versa because most ppl myself included aren’t willing to pay 2 high prices for a stuffed animal

If I were selling it personally I would do $5 for supplies (unless the yarn cost more than that), $20-30 for time, $5 for skill from extra sewing effort, and $20 for shipping to be a total of $50-60 free shipping with you keeping ~$30. The yarn is pretty chunky giving you a lot of size without so much time and having that size justifies a higher price as well as your quality definitely seems great allowing you to justify being out of some people’s budget.

Volume of the box, weight doesnt matter for this size box unless its over 12lbs

Hmm but then i worry boxes will be places over it/itll be thrown around and the sewed on parts will get messed up

I do like the comment about increasing the price of the product to cover the cost of shipping. It’s an old trick to get reimbursed without it being described to the customer as a shipping charge, it actually makes it seem like you’re getting a deal as a customer. Like on Etsy a good rule of thumb is offering free shipping and then increasing your prices by about 20%

I don’t understand why people don’t understand that shipping is a fixed cost you can’t change

The yarn for this was $22 unfortunately, and i pay myself $12 an hour, im just gonna list it on etsy for like $75 free shipping and maybe some rich person wants it🤣

i’m personally just confused how you’re getting charged $20 like i’ve shipped big ass boxes before and never paid more than like $8 at the absolute most

Its a 19x14x12 size box and they calculate the volume of it. Its a big box
