I didn’t bother digging through the comments to see if OP mentioned her height, but she’s probably comparing his height to hers. If she’s above 5’8, he’s short to her. I’m 5’8 and anyone shorter than me is “short” to me. If the male average somehow changed to 5’6, I still wouldn’t consider a 5’7 man “tall”.

I felt the same way. Like everyone was dogging on her and I didn’t get it bc I am also a tall woman (apparently nearly 5” over the female average??) and it really is fine to have preferences, plus I didn’t think she was that rude about it so idk why people are like “it’s wrong to say it in a hurtful way” … it wasn’t said in an offensive way …….
