I'm blonde with blue eyes so I got facial piercings, like do NOT assume I'm one of them

isn’t it kind of crazy that people wrongfully assume things about people based off of their skin color and geographic location. doesn’t that say something about them instead of about us. im sorry but im not going around loudly announcing that im a liberal or changing my appearance to satisfy them. they need to get used to ppls opinions not directly correlating to things they can’t control like race and location

girl I’m not announcing it nor am I going to change my appearance because of it. It’s just a bit of a culture shock since I grew up in a big city in the south that’s blue but after recently graduating I moved back in with my parents who just moved outside of the city I grew up in to a red area (aka everywhere outside of big cities in the south) 💔

i didn’t direct it at you!! i just mean like it’s sad that we associate political alignment so much with women’s appearances. like look at “republican makeup” why are we still conflating women’s appearances with political misalignment. just a new way to define people by appearance

Tbf stereotypes exist for a reason and we are human. I don't blame people that see me with blonde/blue eyes/redneck accent as Republican because it's safer to assume I am than to categorize every person like me as more left. It's not like it jeopardizes my safety or wellbeing in any way. I took the piercings out for school, so hopefully my words and actions are enough to make people feel safe around me.

nah i hate stereotypes of any kind. they’re always harmful because it diminishes the complexity of humans. i’ve been underestimated my whole life for being a girl and looked down on for having more masculine personality traits that nobody ever second guesses in a man. people can’t pick and choose who they stereotype either. you stereotype one person you stereotype others without even realizing
