Men have put women in suggestive positions on the albums for decades with little backlash but the second a woman does it herself it’s bad?

the gag is the album cover wasn’t my fav, but also i wasn’t gonna call her a slut to the whole world and blame her for rising sexism… like why tf did people say that😭 you can dislike something for no other reason than disliking it. not everything has to have some deep philosophical reason. that being said, people are being so dramatic

I think people should also wait for the album to come out itself before jumping to conclusions about what her intentions are lol.

i’ve been staying out of it because it really is not that serious but i will say a lot of the rhetoric i’m seeing is very choice feminism like “no she’s choosing this for herself so actually the imagery IS feminist because a woman chose it!!!”

Have we ever thought that maybe Sabrina singing about her experiences as a woman? And maybe that is considered feminism? I guess we haven’t.

it’s so funny bc they’re saying she’s “setting us back” when they’re really just being misogynistic and sexist themselves

which is different from respecting a woman’s sexual agency because not every act a woman does needs to be “feminist”

i agree. judging an artistic work by off of one image from an entire unreleased album rollout is not particularly fair critique.

Exactly how I feel. I think it’s even okay that the album cover makes some people uncomfortable, everyone’s entitled to their own thoughts. That being said, it doesn’t mean she’s a slut or setting back feminism 50 years. You can dislike something without completely shaming somebody for it.

right like if anything people should be arguing about whether it’s a symptom of rising sexist values, not blaming one woman for it

I’d argue that it’s a clear double standard
