It has been a thing for Americans to be embarrassed to be American when traveling, I heard that in some European countries it’s a thing for Americans to pretend to be canadian

ngl, in asia, some parts of africa and even south america they love western culture! europeans and australians not so much. not all europeans are like this since you can’t group them together because there are many different countries. my parents went to italy and were very respectful and even learned some of the language and sadly got treated terribly.
