For the girlies on birth control, what’s your experience with it? I recently got prescribed the ring because my period was destroying my life.

I loooooove my ring! It’s so easy to use, makes my periods easier (and I can skip them), improved my mental health and mood stability, the top of my boobs filled out for a fuller shape, and helps keep my skin clear. Miracle drug fr

Idk what to expect. Weight gain, mood changes… I’m considered underweight so I’m hoping to get a little weight gain in good places.

I’m on the ring and I love it, I do get hormonal around the time of ring changes but it has lessened over time as I’ve adjusted to it

I was on the mini pill and it was good for me hormone wise, I stopped gaining weight, had more energy, and my skin cleared up. But my periods were all over the place so I switched to the implant in February and I’ve only had one period on it, I feel balanced, my skin is clear, I’m able to lose weight (I wasn’t able to lose weight before birth control)

i have an iud (kyleena). the insertion hurts like HELL. but after the next day or two i felt fine. i’m a year in and my periods either skip or are really light. no noticeable mood changes or hormone changes, and my skin is relatively clear. it lasts me a good 5 years and is over 99% effective

I was on Depo and I loved it. they advise you not to be on it more than 2 years, I did gain weight due to a lowered metabolism. But overall, you get a shot every 3 months and there’s absolutely no period, and it’s 99% effective as far as a contraceptive!

there’s currently a class action lawsuit against depo for causing tumors (specifically brain tumors)

my periods are so much lighter, and cramps aren’t bad, and i no longer feel like my life is being controlled by me period for 1/4th of the month

Omg. That’s Awful. So maybe don’t do that one OP 😂. I got off of it because I wanted all my hormones back to normal and pregnancy wasn’t a concern for me anymore

as someone with an anxiety disorder and seasonal depression i also haven’t noticed any issues with my mental health because of it, and it hasn’t inhibited my weight loss that i’ve been working on

so i don’t think it’ll mess with your weight gain either

I was like you where my period was destroying my life, I would have to be careful with what I did around the time of my period because minor exercise and adrenaline could both cause me horrible cramps that would make me puke. i also bled a lot and would PMS bad. now i barely give my period a second thought, i just put in a tampon and move on with my day. honestly wish I did it sooner. I hope you also have a positive experience OP!

wow it sounds amazing! thanks for sharing. Do you recommend taking it out to have a “regular” period? or did you stop your period for awhile?

of course! I personally take it out to have a regular period because my gyno said to for the first few months (i’ve been on it since january) but she said I could skip periods in the future if I wanted to. I honestly don’t mind it though because my period always starts within 3-4 days of taking the ring out and then lasts 4-5 days, so my periods pretty much done by the time I put the ring back in
