it's not a dumb qu!! you only really need your passport, but it's best to always have your ID too incase you lose your passport and need help from the country to get you temporary documents so that you can leave the country (happened to my sister when her luggage got stolen in paris)

Is it weird that I carry my passport in my carry-on on the airplane? I absolutely refuse to put it on my suitcase and Im adding that to my reasons

u should always have ur passport on u 24/7 when ur travelling to another country so that's very much normal

What about if I carry it around everywhere? Its in this bag so Im not sure but I always keep the compartment zipped (it never goes in the big part)
