i can’t sleep ever since i found a bat in my room a few days ago. i know the bat’s gone but i still don’t feel safe like maybe i’m overreacting but this is genuinely a traumatic experience

every time i find a tiny scratch/bump/weirdly shaped freckle i’m convinced it’s a bite that i didn’t notice and i’m gonna die of rabies, even though i went to the er and they said there’s virtually no risk. i feel like i’ve been having one long anxiety attack for the past three days

Not to scare you more but I would go to the doctor and get the vaccine to prevent rabies. I would also check for bite makes even though you most likely won’t be able to see them. But please go get that vaccine as bats are a carrier for rabies. Not all bats but you can’t tell unless their tested. Better safe than sorry

yeah lowkey idk where people got this idea that bat bites are literally undetectable?? i talked to a doctor and 2 health dept officials and they all said bats have sharp ass teeth, you’d know if one bit you, and it has to break the skin and bleed for there to be a risk so you’d see it

Actually unless your away you won’t feel it. Their bite is so small and their marks leaves within 30 minutes or not noticeable at all. But glad you think you know it all

babe. respectfully. this is an extremely unhelpful thing to be telling me. unless you are a doctor or wildlife expert or something, you don’t know and you’re actively making me more afraid. you literally can’t get the rabies vaccine unless the county health dept authorizes the full series of doses, which they didn’t in my case. so going to another doctor won’t help bc it’s not up to them.

Their bite may be small but you’d still feel it and see the marks, especially if it’s literally only been a few days 💀💀 wounds don’t heal that quickly which means if you don’t see or feel anything, you almost definitely did not get bit op
