Super random question: I haven’t had a period since January, I’m getting an IUD in a couple weeks and I had someone tell me they didn’t have their period and their cervix had closed. Is this common, also any tips would be appreciated.

I’d make an appointment with you ob if you’re concerned. The body can have many reasons for not having a period come. Could be lack of nutrients to stress.

It’s normal for your cervix to open and close various amounts throughout your cycle. If you haven’t had a period in a while, it’s possible that your body is at a hormonal level that leaves your cervix closed. Nothing to worry about. They can dilate your cervix if needed. Just be sure to ask for local anesthesia, which is now recommended by the CDC! You never know if you’ll be someone who experiences extreme pain from IUD insertion.

I’ve had multiple appointments don’t worry! My periods are very sporadic but I have epilepsy so an IUD is my only option.

Someone who goes to my same OB told me they said they’d give her anesthesia and they didn’t… so that’s what I’m scared about.
