TikTok is useless and we can just learn the things we find on TikTok from YouTube instead. TikTok is shortening our attention spans so dramatically that it is affecting the way brains work

people should be more eager to put thought and effort into conversations, even when it veers away from their interests; it ends up letting us learn more

sorry but no. add is a chemical imbalance of dopamine production in the brain. it seems like everyone had adhd these days because: adhd is less stigmatized, and starting to be diagnosed more, especially in women (there wasn’t much research on adhd in women up until like ten years ago). adhd can be caused by lots of things (drinking while pregnant, too much fluoride in water, genetics, etc) that are just being discovered, and TONS of people have adhd like symptoms, especially short attention-

short attention span from things like short form content (tiktok, reels) that DO occur in adhd. the difference is that people with adhd cannot get rid of short attention span, whereas people who have acquired a short attention span can get rid of it with some effort. natural adhd is not universal. acquired adhd symptoms (flooding your brain with too much dopamine and frying it) are becoming more common. someone with adhd can have it treated medicinally. someone without it cannot.

I’m going to give the benefit of the doubt that you’re just genuinely misinformed. “D” at the end means disorder. If everyone has a disorder, it is not a disorder, it’s just the standard human function. ADHD and ADD are not the standard human function. Something becomes a diagnosable disorder when it fits a specific diagnostic criteria and interferes with your daily life.

I hope you understand the mistake you made, ADHD is not just short attention span, talking a lot, or whatever there is so much more into ADHD and especially diagnosing it! I promise that not everybody suffers from ADHD, you may just be talking about people developing poor life skills due to THEIR choices in life. As of now, the only way to have ADHD is through genetics! I can agree that it is rising, but not everybody has it! Not trying to be rude!
