The romance in romance books slowly declining because so many readers obsessed with self-inserting. Like it’s actually not bad writing just because the main girl doesn’t something that YOU wouldn’t do, because she isn’t you!!!

Female characters aren’t allowed to fall in love first, yearn, confess, take action, have flaws, be vulnerable, etc. No they’re just supposed to just be passive cardboard cutouts that people can project on and let the plot happen to them.

It’s bc new readers (and honestly a lot of old ones) haven’t had a fanfiction phase. Like girl if you wanna self implement into the story then go read a Bucky x reader fanfic
