F5.6 is a good standard f-stop to start with if you’re unsure about where to set it. You will need a more higher ISO in night scenes- but just keep in mind it will increase noise in your photo. Shutter speed is a bit iffy and may need to be adjusted along with the ISO. ( I try to see the f.stop first). But for shutter speed : I tend to do anywhere between 1/100 -1/250 …under 1/60 is good for long exposures. But if you’re doing sports or-
a subject that has lots of movement that you want stilled , use a faster shutter speed like 1/500+ . It really can depend based on how fast the movement is, but it’s also important to keep in mind that the fast the shutter speed is, the less light that is able to get in.. meaning you may have to adjust your f.stop or ISO.
Sorry last thing lol (I’m a photography major). For f.stops, the lower the number = the more light that gets in.. so for a really sunny day you may want to try f/8- f/32. But if it’s a cloud day, likely somewhere between f/5.6 or lower. Also I’d look into depth of field. I’m not the best at it honestly, but f. Stops play a role in how you achieve certain depths of field (like having a subject in focus and background blurry as an example)
