Yes ofc animation is for all age groups and there’s a lot of animated works for adults. But I’ve noticed so many fellow fans will watch stuff marketed for children, then get upset when the story or the fandom isn’t “mature” enough. Like, why are we mad that there isn’t gore in Steven Universe?

A lot of animated shows that are marketed for kids are actually for adults too. Because at the end of the day the parents will be watching. That’s why there are a lot of adult jokes in kids shows. Maybe not all but a lot. Steven universe is like in the middle for me

arcane is another good example. actual, well thought adult film is SO good, but it’s so much easier and cheaper for people to pump out kids’ content and make tons of money from it. the shows like big mouth are sooooo dumb and just have adult language. like bro i don’t care abt sex jokes every conversation. can we stop making those shows 😭 i want detailed and thought-provoking animation like arcane

It’s been over for years, and I admit, the first season is very reminiscent of the classic crude adult animated sitcoms, but Bojack Horseman is also a good animated show that handles some heavy themes.
