People downvoted my last post so I’ll say it again, it’s not okay to be super underweight. It’s not okay to starve yourself just to look skinny like people you see in the media, you deserve to enjoy life without worrying about what your body looks like

I can’t believe there’s even people arguing against this. Idk if this needs a trigger warning for ed but there it is for the rest of the comment. I’m actively going through a process of trying to get over an ed, not bc of media honestly more bc of how ppl treated me when I was chubby as a kid, but having an ed is horrific and people glorifying it is insane. It consumes your life even if you didn’t intend to have one. Like OP said, enjoy your life. This leaves scars that no one deserves to have

and it’s not something that you can just stop when you’re done. It is an addiction and it will be with you for the rest of your life. When something bad happens that will be your first coping mechanism and every time you try to get better, you’re gonna have to relearn how to listen to your body to tell you when you’re hungry. I don’t recommend it never do it.

You do know that majority of skinny people don’t CHOOSE to be skinny right? there’s a lot of things that play out in someone’s weight. You don’t know if there’s any health underlying issues or a disease that makes them be skinny, so you can’t be going around saying things like that making an illusion to thinking that all skinny people are skinny by choice. Being skinny doesn’t equal unhealthy, there is a point where it shows that it is unhealthy but not even half of skinny people ever reach that

True!! But I will say, being extremely underweight is much more damaging to your body than being extremely overweight

So while they’re both unhealthy, one is much worse

Nah deadass, she also said those that starve themselves to look like people in media So she’s obviously not talking about people that have fast metabolisms or other issues😭 -signed, a skinny person

The first thing I said was it’s not okay to be super underweight. Yes i understand that people can’t choose their body size, im a bigger person and I’ve always naturally been bigger. However, it’s a problem when there are people in the media that are losing an extreme amount of weight and they are saying that they are just healthier. It’s not normal to be so underweight that you are essentially the weight of a young child. Let’s stop playing the victim and actually read

They both have very bad down sides. Being overweight can affect your heart your lungs your mobility you can cause you to get diabetes, sleep apnea, fatty liver disease, joint damage, and all sorts of other medical issues including a few cancers. Being underweight can cause weak bones, anemia, weak immune system, hair skin and teeth problems due to a lack of nutrients. Also, you get really bad brain fog and irritation because there’s not enough nutrients going to your brain to help you function.

she’s talking about trying to mimic ariana grande or eugenia coney (i think i spelled that wrong). and having a fast metabolism does not equal starving yourself, which is what she said it’s not OK to do.

Yes, I said they both have downsides! It’s just that being underweight for a long period of time negatively affects you more as it eats away at your muscles + bones for fuel, permanently damages your digestive system to the point where resuming eating a normal amount can actually kill you, weakens your heart, brain, etc etc .

Expedited death vs expedited death. You’re really grasping at straws trying to make one seem worse. The simple reality is they are both time bombs on your health and will 100% accelerate your death.

One kills you faster and does more harm. That’s my point. I’ve literally said that both are bad and unhealthy so idk why yall are acting like I’m saying that it’s fine to be overweight lol

It's simply not true that being underweight is much more damaging. It's just that your youth means you don't suffer the effects of being overweight, but just give it time and you will

Yes. Not as many people are genuinely starving to death, that’s correct. All I’m saying is that starvation kills you quicker. Obesity is a huge issue still. Jesus fucking Christ yall are dense lmao

It takes decades of being overweight to kill you. Anorexia can kill you within months or a few years. Genuine starvation can kill you even quicker than that. This is basic science dude.

Yeah I dont know why people are arguing with you😭 Both are bad but if you are severely underweight your body literally deteriorates because you have no fat to burn no energy no nothing I feel like people just like feeling right they pick arguments when not needed💀

They hate them bc they’re unhealthy but at the same time don’t care about people that are very underweight even though it’s MORE unhealthy than being overweight. Their view on it is skewed and many people view being overweight as a moral failure
