Birth control is very accessible! If you’re trying to avoid running insurance, check your campus clinic, health department, or an online service like Planned Parenthood Direct or Nurx for a prescription (they can even mail pills is some locations). Use GoodRX for pharmacy pickup. There are pills for <$10/mo. You can also find Opill, a progestin-only pill OTC. If you mean you don’t want any evidence (eg pill packets), an option like Nexplanon or Depo could be a good fit. What’s your situation?

Yes! Progestin-only pills (aka mini-pill or POP) are very well tested. Opill is just the first to seek OTC approval in recent years. It’s no different than what you could get prescribed. They just had to prove it was safe enough and easy enough to be “self-prescribed” in a sense. If you decide to use Opill, just be sure to read all the info that comes with it and take a pill a day with no breaks.
