The concept of men saying they got friendzoned pmo. Y’all are missing out on some amazing friendships with women, all because you can’t comprehend platonically spending time w one unless it’s to try and date her. Why are there always ulterior motives?

It’s hard for them to parse any kind of affection it feels like. Seeing the difference between friendship with a woman and romance is a skill

I feel like women don’t have this concept of friend zoning. It’s like ok, he doesn’t want a relationship with me. Cool. But for men they are really bothered by that and act like it’s the end of the world

I don’t know the experience for girls but speaking as a guy I experience this a lot as well so I don’t think it’s fair to say it’s just a man thing at all. I really enjoy friendships with women but it’s like whenever I get close with women, they just think there’s something romantic between us. I’ve had back to back internships where girls with boyfriends who I thought I could be normal friends with since they were in relationships caught feelings for me.

I used to be friends with guy throughout all of high school and after we graduated and we were always very platonic. I even dated his older brother. He ended up confessing that he had feelings for me during college and I was very clear with him that I did not see him in that way but told him that I understood if he didn’t want to be friends. He agreed to be just friends, but continuously kept pushing certain boundaries and trying to be flirtatious and then would get mad when I would not respond

If it’s with all girls it’s different and they need help, but I can understand it being hard if they have a genuine crush on a specific girl but she only wants something platonic.

I understand guys being friends with you as a way to get with you pissing you off, obviously. How can they be expected to be forced to be friends with the person they are attracted to and not express that attraction? Why drag their heart through the mud after breaking it? Why string them along? Maybe he doesn’t want to do that.

Or maybe they are really upset because they found someone that they really liked and built up the confidence to tell them and were rejected but told "I don't want to date you, but I still want to lead you on and treat you like a boyfriend without actually having to be in a relationship with you". If there is a guy I don't really like or don't want to date, I just tell them. I don't like "friendzoning" I know I wouldn't want a guy to do ts to me

That has literally never happened to me. And I have asked my guy friends before about it. All the girls that "friendzone" and claim that they can't just have regular friends are usually portraying and carrying themselves in a way that will make a guy think they can ask you out. As women, we need to take some accountability for our own actions too. Not everything that is wrong in our lives is because of men. You might have some better luck if you tried it sometime 🙄

“Lead you on and you treat like a boyfriend” aka “not kiss you and just be nice and hungout” like normal friends do?? It sucks to be rejected but I feel like this happpens to every women. Like I can’t be friends with a man without him trying to date me it pmo. You will be nice to a guy and they think you want to date like no sorry I just wanted to get to know you like not everything is romantic.

This is so crazy to me cause I am someone who is alternative so men already sexualize me more and will look at me differently but I’m also neurodivergent, I get interested in people’s lives and ask questions instead of small talk and I don’t flirt with people; I don’t ask romantic things, but my guy friends have asked me out and other guys have and it’s really annoying. It also happened to my sister and her guy friend. It’s just very common for guys to start liking their girl-friends

Cause a lot of men want romantic relationships they prioritize that over friendships and a lot of women, prioritize friendships and relationships but if they aren’t male centered they aren’t scared of man not liking them.

Hey dumbass, there is a difference between just saying no, and being an adult who explains and is honest with the guy. I actually elaborate, tell them why I said no, give them actual reasons other than "I'd don't want to" or "I don't like you". Those aren't fulfilling answers now are they? I understand some people *you* have trouble with the idea of thinking and acting like an adult, so I'll give you some grace.

In all honesty you don’t have to owe someone an explanation for why you don’t want to be with them. Just saying no should be enough. A part of being an adult is knowing you aren’t entitled to a justification for why someone doesn’t want to date you. You also should not be making friends with the expectation of a relationship and being angry the other person doesn’t feel the same

He eventually got somewhat bitter even after reinforcing me that he was okay with being friends and started insulting me as a form of a “joke”, and I eventually knew the friendship we had before he confessed his feelings was never going to be the same. I ended up cutting him off and he sent me this large rage text saying that he only ever saw me as someone to fuck and never took me seriously. 7 years of “friendship” gone. Get out of girl talk. I appreciate that you didn’t comment anything mean or hateful but no one asked for your opinion. This is meant to be a place just for women, so even when the conversation pertains to men, we still don’t want men to engage with it. If we did then we’d post in a different community that has both men and women in it.

I was "best friends" with a guy in hs during covid and when we started being friends I had a bf. And for part of it he has a gf. He would tell me all the time about how he'd eat her out or how he got his dick sucked which I was like okay? I always thought was weird. I knew he had a crush on me because literally the day after I broke up with my bf his friend tried to wingman him and tell me I should start seeing him. I brushed it off hoping it would go away (dumb) and because i genuinely wanted

To be friends and maintain our friendship. But at prom he didn't ask me he asked another girl so I was like ok good he's not into me anymore. We both went with different people then he asked me to hookup in the bathroom at prom. I genuinely felt betrayed and it make me feel like an object to him rather than a person. After I said no he got pissed and we stopped talking. Really showed me it was all an act just because he liked the chase and wanted to hit

It’s not tho. It’s learned to treat women as anything other than people. It’s not a skill to not sexualize and NOT expect anything other than friendship/kindness from people in general, but especially women. It’s the bare minimum. I get what you’re trying to say but it’s coming out wrong.

For most men it is a skill tho. Many aren’t raised to believe that they should have woman as friends. It’s far from impossible obviously but it’s definitely not the default they’re raised into. Not an excuse for them to stay that way. They should be responsible for becoming people who are capable like anyone else

Still doesn’t make it a skill, it makes it a basic moral function to see women as human and be able to see them as not your gf, it’s obviously how they were raised but that still doesn’t make it a skill

Women don’t have friendzoning because men don’t reject women and then try and still be friends with them like women do. There is no friend zone, you’re either accepted or rejected. Why tf would anyone want to be friends with someone they expressed an interest in and got rejected? Then you have to watch them go through life and probably get with other people lol, sounds like a humiliation ritual.

Put it perfectly, I love how you told him how you’d understand not wanting to be friends, that makes sense. Guys literally see being a friend to a female as like a category of social status that makes it more likely they will get with them in the “long game” I’ve seen it too. The only real friendships I’ve seen are from a young age

Nah man I'm all for accountability but I think socially men and women are conditioned to define flirting differently which is what creates this dissonance to begin with but at the end of the day men are adults and need to take rejection with maturity. Obviously purposely flirting and leading people on is awful but #1 is being condescending asf and blaming women for this when it's not their fault

Yeah no one is saying it doesn't suck! We've all been there it totally blows however that's not an excuse to be rude about it and if all women you meet you see as romantic or sexual prospects you really need to do some self reflection. And I'm saying the other end of this sucks too

Woah woah, I never said anything about being rude, no one should be rude for whatever reason. Again, I said. It’s different if it’s with all women, but if it’s a specific woman who they have feelings for, it can’t be categorized the same way. Plus just bc a guy may find a girl attractive and want to date her doesn’t mean that they only value her sexually. There are plenty of couples who love their partner but also see them as their best friend
