I was always told that things are just SO much more expensive in blue states and I just did the math and while yea it’s more expensive…I could be making triple my salary in a blue state. I feel like the blindfold has been ripped off😭

not even trying to be dumb here, but wouldn’t it all even out tho? like yeah in a blue state you’d be making more, but also the cost of living would be higher anyway, so it’s just bigger numbers but with the same percentage of loss or whatever. (genuinely asking bc i’m trying to move out of the south soon lol)

try it and lmk how it works out, my friends in several red and blue states are having a terrible time with the job market and housing - I think it def depends on which state and the city. like NC is technically a red state, but Charlotte as a city is super blue, super expensive, and the job market is god awful

That’s what I thought too!! But I was just on a website (I’ll pull it back up in a sec and link it) and it was showing the cost of living and pretty much the cost break down of everything and compared it to the town I picked and the town I live in now and while yeah it’s more expensive it doesn’t quite match up because the state I want to move to has a really high minimum wage and for my career field the average salary is over 20% higher than the national average

the difference is like rn my take home pay is like $3k a month and bills are $1.5k but if I stayed in my career field even being on the low end it would be $5.5k a month with most likely around $2.5k for bills or so because I’m not moving til I get my loans paid off

Ok the link isn’t working on mobile but the choose Washington website has a thing called property search under the site selection tab and that is what I used to compare cost of living and everything else.

But I was always told that it always evens out and you’ll still be broke even if you’re making a lot of money, but idk I feel like as long as you budget and don’t try to live at the very top of your means it’s way more than just doable.
