Is 3k a decent limit on a first credit card under my own account? I signed up for the first yesterday and that’s what it gave me, but im also 21 so idk if thats good.

Yes but never plan to hit your limit. Try to keep it under 50% utilization by paying it off any time it creeps up and also every month so you never owe interest. Credit card debt is no joke; use it responsibly.

“good” being a loaded word here but yes, my first card had a $500 limit HOWEVER i will say that giving a young person a high limit on their first ever credit card is kinda predatory. they’re hoping you rack up a lot of debt so that you have to pay them a lot of interest. the interest on credit cards is insanely high too i would definitely only use it for small purchases that you have enough money to pay off pretty much immediately, just to build your credit score and/or get rewards points/miles

My limit has been this for years and I’m too lazy to get it increased lmfao

I was aiming for probably 5-600 a month- so groceries and then maybe certain purchases where I get cash back like travel. I have a job during school, allowance, and a summer internship. If I somehow do go over I’m fortunate enough that i can borrow interest free from bank of my dad.

I think that’s what all my friends with discover started with, I did the capital one savor but I also have a credit score in the high 700s.

I was just going to use it on groceries since there’s cashback + monitor where I can use cashback otherwise. I work & have parental help so I know not to go over (I’m afraid of debt)
