Regardless of what the situation is, I’ve always believed instead of having the mentality of “that’s a life” people need to grow up and realize if that baby does come into this life, what type of life are they going to have, that baby is going to be brought into this world and brought into a horrendous life because the mother and father weren’t ready for them nor are they ready to financially support them. That “pro life” decision just led to a hopeless child having a horrible life.
Kid you not, a cousin of mine went to a catholic private school in my area. Many of the teachers were heavily homophobic and pro life and antisemitic. One legit said “abortion is murder even if it’s r@pe, if a 13 year old is r@ped it’s an act of god and she deserved it”. My cousin obviously cursed her out enraged and got suspended, the school knew she was saying this stuff and believed it was okay
the primary argument for pro lifers is the potentiality of the fetus to actuate as a human, so if you’re taking preventative measures then you’re still stopping the “natural” potential of the development that would occur from the interaction between sperm and egg. even if you believe in free will (which most pro lifers don’t) you are entirely removing the possibility of that child from existing. therefore, in the pro lifer view (not mine) it’s still “murder”, just premeditated
Aye, they do consider it a sin, following pretty much that logic. Catholics, at least, don’t consider contraception to be murder though. Separate sort of sin, inhibiting nature and all that. I can’t speak to the new evangelical movement in the US though, who are often even more intensely conservative on these social issues.
