I hate when people try to convince you with “but the good outweighs the bad” like what if it doesn’t? I think it’s fair for some parents to admit that their kids are disappointments and did more bad than good overall. I will stick with my cats that have zero risk of committing violent crimes or having a negative impact on the world

But also overall I think no one needs to justify choosing to be childless. It seems like that’s the one major life decision that needs to be so heavily argued for and it shouldn’t be. Some people just don’t want kids, just like some people don’t want pets, to go to college, to get married, etc. it’s not their idea of a fulfilling life
