Yes but not often. If you aren’t active then testing before becoming active again and maybe once a year (STDs can be dormant and won’t always rest positive)

Standard practice is that once you become 21 you get a general exam including a paper and std testing annually (and quite frankly if they’re already down there for a pap might as well swab it for std testing unless insurance wise it’s an additional cost to you) if you’re sexually active, if you’re not sexually active the standard recommendation I believe used to be every 5 years but is now every 3 especially for HPV and sometimes HIV if you get tattoos or something with bodily fluids done etc
