in the kindest way possible, i fear this is an issue that you would have found if you budgeted properly before accepting the role

rent is bad everywhere even in the midwest where it’s supposed to be cheaper to live in. it just doesn’t matter anymore tbh.

hey! so wages aren’t keeping up with inflation. rent is incredibly high everywhere due to airbnb rentals and private equity firms buying out houses and then turning around to rent them for an insane amount of money. i can’t afford to live on my own as much as i want to without a roommate and even then it’s still at least $600+ a month here.

you missed the whole point, i’m saying before the position was accepted there should have been confirmation that current expenses could be afforded

No where did OP imply that she moved somewhere for this job, it’s very possible that her rent was increased after she started this job (which is exactly what #2 was saying)

you can’t really predict the future in terms of rent when you’re living paycheck to paycheck my good sis.

while i am aware of that, you can predict what your post grad salary is and work around that

just because you can predict things doesn’t mean it’s necessarily true. again, wages aren’t keeping up with inflation. my parents make 6 figures each every year and it’s getting to the point where that doesn’t matter anymore bc the cost of everything is incredibly high. let’s be realistic.
