i agree there are differences, I just don't like the way we're constantly comparing eachother instead of building a bridge together. The more we ostracize men by telling them they're not as important, or their struggles don't matter, the bigger the divide becomes. If we want them to listen, he have to come from a place of mutual respect and understanding.

no one is saying men aren’t important? the post literally is just describing misogyny. if men take that as ostracizing them then idk what use they’d be as allies. when a person of color talks about how their life is harder bc of their race, i don’t make it about my feelings as a white person

rn you’re saying someone with a papercut should be treated the same as someone who had their arm cut off. yes both people were hurt, but one is VERY obviously worse than the other and should be prioritized when it comes to finding solutions

i think there's a way to say what OP said without saying one is better or worse. I think the nature of objectifying a woman is different but saying it is "worse" will ostracize those who feel they have been objectified by minimizing the effects it has had on them. If OP had said different i would not have made my post at all.

wrong i'm not saying that. Im just saying maybe we shouldn't compare injuries and instead focus on preventing those injuries and treating them. if that treatment is different i dont care, but telling someone with a paper cut that their injury is "better than" someone getting their arm chopped off isn't the greatest bc you're still ignoring their experiences when it's not necessary.

speaking generally, which is what op was doing, the objectification of women IS worse because of misogyny. obviously there are men that have been harmed by it too but GENERALLY SPEAKING it’s far worse for women. again if a man can’t put his own feelings aside to actually understand what’s being discussed, he’s not going to be a good ally

you’re upset about the terminology “better” or “worse” when in reality we are talking about actual studies that show objectification of women is statistically MORE significant than the objectification of men. it is more likely to negatively affect women. it is more common that women are harmed by misogyny. studies have shown men are statistically less likely to be harmed by misogyny than women are. i just restated the same thing so many ways without using those words you don’t like. 😐 ta da.
