Normalize period cramps being awful. So many ppl r just expected to get up and go to work, school, etc. lay in bed girl and relax with a heating pad

I used to miss school all the time bc of period cramps in highschool. I didn’t start finding relief/lighter periods/more manageable cramps until I started a pill birth control. I would talk to your doctor about what they would suggest and what would be best for you!! Being a woman is alr hard enough, you shouldn’t have to suffer even more every month also

It is 100% OK to miss class because of period. Cramps don’t feel guilty. Please put your health before your education believe me in the long run your body will thank you! And if “ professor” has an issue with that that’s their own bs!

I don’t go to class if my cramps are too bad so don’t worry about it too much, as long as you’re not regularly skipping class it should have like zero effect.

people will tell you it’s normal for a period to be debilitating but IT IS NOT. find a woman gyno that will listen to you and help you find out why it’s painful enough to not be able to function. for me i found out it’s dysautanomia and bpd and it’s helped me feel less guilt from it

This is valid , I have to take two Tylenols every three hours to be okay. This has been working but with Halloween coming up my liver won’t be able to catch a break 😭

don’t make anyone make you feel guilty for missing class cuz of cramps! It’s the exact same as being any other type of sick in my opinion

tbh there should be smth put in place to allow leave from class/work when you can prove that your periods are physically debilitating

girl my periods have me simultaneously vomiting, shitting, and unable to get up from my bathroom floor. even if your symptoms don’t feel “valid” enough, periods SHOULD BE EXCUSABLE!!!

I skipped 2 classes because of pain from getting my iud put in, i think cramping should be a valid excuse for missing class. Like genuinely it sucks.

Well I’m gonna be completely honest, we’re grown so first off if you feel too bad to go that’s your choice just maybe try and study for it a little longer when you feel better. If you’re very bad to a crippled state then you should seek medical help, most campuses have an area on campus you could go if you didn’t want to pay for an actual hospital bill.

Period cramps shouldn’t be so painful that they affect your everyday life. Please talk to a gynecologist :( if you already know what’s going on but can’t do anything about it, then I would talk to your professor or if you have an office of disability services talk to them and work out accommodations for missing classes every month. It’s okay to miss class, but this amount of pain is not normal 💜

You should be able to miss but just be cautious if there are any graded I. Class assignments, exams, or quizzes bc you might not be able to make them up. It depends on the class. If it’s just a lecture day tho ur fine

I skipped my class this morning bc of my period so I personally think it’s fine (and I hate missing class) I think people need to normalize a period as a valid excuse for not being able to do something. It’s painful af

i missed 22 days in highschool and graduated with a 4.0, you'll be fine as long as you get the work done. I hope you feel better soon, you should talk to your doctor about your symptoms at your next appointment. I'd recommend Advil, if you can take that med.

Unless all of your classes are D’s which clearly by the way this person feels about their academic’s their not A D or two will not stop you from getting your degree unless its a masters or doctorate

For people with dysmenorrhea-causing conditions, yes. For a normal healthy female, no.

Actually this is a good point!!! I’ve had irregular periods and severe cramps my whole life and it turns out it was due to PCOS! Having a gynecologist or any kind of doctor who will actually listen to you is a game changer

Definitely switch to Advil on/off! Tylenol, 3 hours, Advil, 3 hours, Tylenol (repeat). Tylenol and Advil work with different parts of your body to relieve pain. You should definitely switch since it has the same (or similar) effects without the like, internal bleeding
