everyone loves a hot take until you say that no one is entitled to children or pets. you aren’t owed companions. if you are unfit for either, it’s not “out of line” for someone to say “You should not be responsible for kids/pets at this point”

yep! and i don’t even mean this in any sort of elitist or snobby way, it’s really not about finances or anything like that. just about actually being realistic about what it means to be a fit parent or be ready to take care of something for the benefit of those entirely dependent on you.

and it’s not always financial! it can also be mental, it can also be if you’re in a job whwre you’re constantly moving or gone for long periods of time and can’t provide stability! there’s so many reasons for people to not have kids or pets

definitely, and it doesn’t make you a bad person. like at this point, i would likely be an unfit parent because i’m pursuing something which requires all my time & money.
